Think of that point before join Marchant navy

After so many advantages of merchant navy there are some disadvantages of merchant navy. Let's discuss these disadvantages.

Home Sickness-

If you will be a sailor then you will definitely feel home sickness at some point of time. You will be away from your home for a long time that may be 12 months in some cases. Even you will have no connectivity to your home. You and also your family have to be very strong.

But now a days there is limited wi-fi on some ships. So you can contact to your home. But it's very hard to sail.

Hard Work-

As a mariner you have to do very hard work. You have no weekends. And also no good sleep in case of emergencies. If you are on the ship then you are on duty 24*7.

No Immediate Help in Case of Emergencies-

Imagine you are in the mid of sea and there is no land near by. And if any injured very seriously and victim require urgent hospitalisation then its not possible.

Although sailors study about the medical attention and that is advance level first aid. But sometimes it is not sufficient. Many deaths happen, making it one of the most dangerous profession.

Social Life-

There is no stability in your social life. You will cut totally from society. Sometimes sailors have to cancel their own wedding due to this profession because they can not reach to their home on time due to some reason.

You may a different person than your society due to this profession.

Piracy-

This happens rarely but it happens in some parts of world. Companies have to keep private security.

Now a new course of ship security is added.  But Piracy will scare you.

Vegetarian-

If you want to join merchant navy and you are vegetarian then it is difficult to survive.

But now a days the condition is improving.

Studies Never Ends-

If you are a sailor and want to get promotion then you have to study continuously. You have to study on ship after finishing your daily routine job.

And after coming leave then you have to give exams and interviews to get promotion. So that's very hard to study on ship after finishing your daily routine job.

So this job is not for everyone. You have to be committed to your job. It will take very long time to get settle down according to conditions of ship and sea.
